Tips On Preparing for Your Boudoir Photography Session

If you’re ready to have boudoir photos captured of your naturally gorgeous face and body, there’s a few things we want you to know about boudoir photo shoots before you pay us a visit here at Heather Lee Photography. We want you to look the best you can possibly look, which is why we’re going to provide a few tips that will help you prepare for the sexiest photos you will ever take.

What exactly do you need to know about boudoir photography? Let’s look a little deeper!

Drink Plenty of Water and Get Rest the Night Before: Your body is a very responsive organism that will show signs of dehydration, sleep deprivation, etc. You want to look your natural best, which is why we recommend drinking plenty of water in the days leading up to the shoot. Of course, to avoid the dark circles under your eyes, try and get at least 7-hours of sleep the night before. Spice Up Your Nails: Boudoir is all about the finer details, which is why we recommend getting a manicure and pedicure before you step into our boudoir studio. When you reflect on the photos you captured months from now, you’ll be happy that you made the investment. Pick Out Your Outfits In Advance: Every woman knows how hard it can be to put together the perfect outfit in just 10-minutes. Don’t wait until the last second to pick out the pieces you want in your intimate photo shoot. Instead, spend time beforehand trying on outfits and selecting the exact pieces you want to be wearing in front of the lens. And don’t forget we have an extensive wardrobe available to you in our studio to complete your look.  Moisturize, Cleanse, and Avoid Fake Tanner: We understand the desire to look tan, but trust us – fake tanner does not look good in professional photography settings. Avoid the streaky lotions and instead use a very basic and water-based moisturizer, like Aveeno lotion, right before the shoot to ensure your skin looks supple and soft. Wear Loose Clothing to the Shoot: Our skin is able to mimic the tight lines, buttons, and clothing marks we press on it every day. When you take off a pair of socks, there’s a compression mark around your ankle. For a boudoir photography session, ensure you show up with no creases on your skin. Wear a baggy blouse, yoga pants, a loose dress, or sweats and avoid wearing socks beforehand.

Additionally, try and avoid consuming excessive alcohol the night before, as hangovers are anything but sexy. Lastly, bring back-up outfits just in case the ones you selected aren’t working with the studio setting. And if you’re someone that suffers from frequent bloating, avoid foods that can make you bloated before your shoot.

And don’t forget, once you have scheduled, we will send you an email including all our favorite preparation tips to help you get the most out of your upcoming boudoir shoot with us!
