McMenamins continues to release new IPAs each month from their many local breweries. They sent me some samples, and there are few I'd like to highlight. Text in italics is taken directly from McMenamins' beer descriptions, followed by my impressions.

Hazy Mango Double IPA

With the sweet-tangy juiciness of mango and a burst of Mosaic and Idaho-7 hops, this Double IPA is a powerhouse of flavor. There's a reason this was the first beer to be canned after our flagship ales!

ABV: 7.9%Special Ingredients: Fresh Mango

My thoughts:  Opaque with a fine white head that left sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma is full of juicy mango and grapefruit. At the first sip, sweet mango rushes forward in flavor, followed by citrus and light notes of pine. It’s medium bodied, has a soft mouth feel and finishes with grapefruit and warming alcohol. Given the combination of body and alcohol, one 16 oz. can made for the perfect thirst quencher!

Sabertooth Hazy IPA

This hazy IPA boasts aromas of citrus and ripe papaya while a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel gives ton of flavor of juicy tropical fruit.

ABV: 6%Special Techniques: Dry Hopped

My thoughts:  This batch was made with Sabro Hops and HBC 586, and experimental variety known for tropical fruit flavors.

Aroma and flavor of citrus, pineapple, and guava. The smooth and soft mouthfeel puts this beer over the top for me. It's beautifully balanced overall and a hint of alcohol is present in the finish in this 6.6% ABV beer. I could easily drink a few of these in a session.

In recent years, I've grown to favor hazy IPAs. This is a standout--probably my favorite IPA from McMenamins to date!

Both of these IPAs are delicious and perfect for the warm weather that has finally arrived in the Pacific Northwest! If these are in stock at your local McMenamins, give 'em a try.

Happy 4th of July!
