Sabrina Ionescu‘s debut signature model, the Nike Sabrina 1, has been an instant hit. With a new year fast=approaching, the low-top performance sneaker continues to appear in new colorways, suggesting Ionescu and the Swoosh will continue to dominate the market with their first collaboration.
Akin to previous styles of the basketball shoe, a newly-surfaced pair features an understated grayscale finish. Textile construction across the upper revels in different shades of grey, allowing for even the slightest of contrast to enjoy the spotlight. On this particular pair, profile swooshes and branding on the tongue interrupt their dark surroundings, but they pale in comparison to the faint green tone that appears at the spine. Much of the sole unit underfoot also favors the subdued mint hue, although components at the forefoot and the entire outsole opts for an off white color instead. While a proper backstory about this Sabrina 1 has yet to be disclosed by the brand, a view of the sockliners reveals that the ensemble is a sort of celebration. “Welcome Sabrina” is stamped on the insoles, replacing traditional “S” branding found on Ionescu’s sneakers. The bubble lettered-text could serve as a message from Nike, the New York Liberty guard’s own thoughts, or a nod to something someone shared with her upon entering the “Big Leagues.”
Enjoy official photos of the pair ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch come Spring 2024.
