Boxing Day Over 2.5 Goals Tips: 14/1 Acca from Yorkshire to Suffolk
We finish our Boxing Day Accumulator columns with a 14/1 fivefold looking at the Over 2.5 Goals market. Can we pick up a nice double-digit winner...?
Boxing Day Over 2.5 Goals Tips:
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Huddersfield Town vs Blackburn Rovers @ 4/6
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Lincoln City vs Bolton Wanderers @ Evens
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Notts County vs Mansfield Town @ 8/15
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Walsall vs Crewe Alexandra @ 8/11
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Ipswich Town vs Leicester City @ 8/11
Overall Odds - 14/1
Leg 1 - Huddersfield Town vs Blackburn Rovers @ 4/6
When two poor sides meet, you usually get a low-scoring encounter, even if they have bad defences. I don’t think Blackburn are a poor side but they are not in great form. A trip to the John Smith’s Stadium is a great place though to find your MoJo in front of goal, heck even Preston scored three times a couple of weeks back.
The home side have not been great for hitting the Over 2.5 in recent weeks but this feels like a game they will think is winnable. This should lead to Darren Moore’s side playing a bit more on the front foot, which in turn should lead to the visitors getting chances on the break.
Lincoln City vs Bolton Wanderers @ Evens
No-one in the top-half of EFL League 1 have scored fewer goals than Lincoln City and it isn’t like they concede many either. They keep games tight and that isn’t usually what we look for here in the over 2.5 Goals column.
Yet this Boxing Day, they are playing Bolton Wanderers and Ian Evatt’s side are very good going forward. We’ve seen them go on runs where they go big and they’ve hit the required number in three of their past four in league play. I’ll take the good record of the visitors over the poor one of the hosts here.
Leg 3 - Notts County vs Mansfield Town @ 8/15
Games involving Notts County this season have averaged 4.23 Goals Per Game. That is a massive number and is probably a good reason why this leg is the shortest on the docket for us in this column.
Mansfield are good defensively, which is less than ideal but unlike say Lincoln above, they are very good going forward. 91% of games at Meadow Lane have hit the Over 2.5 mark. I like that. I like that a lot. I’ll take the Notts County numbers in most games and I see no reason to ignore them here.
Leg 4 - Walsall vs Crewe Alexandra @ 8/11
We have a weird statistical quirk in this one as Walsall are 83% for Over 2.5 in road games but only 30% in games at the Bescot.
That gives me a wee bit of concern but I’ve long been a fan of adding Crewe in these columns and the Railwaymen are 70% in games on their travels. Whenever you are watching Soccer Saturday, it feels as though goals are always going in when Lee Bell’s side are concerned. I’ll go with my gut on this one.
Leg 5 - Ipswich Town vs Leicester City @ 8/11
I am stunned that this game is such a big price for hitting the over 2.5. They are the two top-scorers in the EFL Championship by a the proverbial Country Mile and after a 4-0 defeat at Elland Road on Saturday, I fully expect a response from Kieran McKenna’s side.
Leicester City have plenty of quality going forward and they seem to play the best when the lights shine brightest. Plenty of eyeballs will be on this one and I think we’ll have a high-scoring thriller to round-out Boxing Day in the late 19:45 kick-off.
