We started the 2023/24 season red hot on the BTTS columns with three double-digit odds winners in the first two-and-a-half-months but we've been coming up dry since the start of November.

We'll keep plugging away though and we have a 12/1 fivefold for consideration for this special slate of games...

Boxing Day BTTS Tips:

Back BTTS Yes in Tonbridge Angels vs Maidstone United @ 4/7 Back BTTS Yes in Welling United vs Dartford @ 4/9 Back BTTS Yes in Birmingham City vs Stoke City @ 4/5 Back BTTS Yes in Peterborough United vs Reading @ 8/11 Back BTTS Yes in Barrow vs Stockport County @ 5/6 Overall Odds - 12/1

Leg 1 - Tonbridge Angels vs Maidstone United @ 4/7

Leg 2 - Welling United vs Dartford @ 4/9

Both of the first two games are very much gut-feel picks based in large part due to local rivalry games on Boxing Day down in the non-leagues often seem to be a bit of a gold mine for BTTS.

In addition, both matchups are what I often look for in terms of league position. The home team being a handful of places below the visitors is what you like to see. Tonbridge vs Maidstone is 10th vs 4th whilst Welling United vs Dartford is 22nd vs 18th.

Put that on top of the fact both games are Kent Derbies and we have ourselves our opening two legs for our Boxing Day BTTS Acca. Just note that both of these matches are 13:00 kick-offs.

Leg 3 - Birmingham City vs Stoke City @ 4/5

The Blues under Wayne Rooney have certainly been on the front foot and in the last week, they lost 2-3 at home against Leicester City and followed that up with a 3-3 draw down in Devon against Plymouth Argyle. They are certainly looking to score but don’t seem to have great defensive discipline.

On Boxing Day they take on a Stoke City side who are one of the toughest to read in the EFL Championship. Steven Schumacher is now in charge and they started with a 0-0 draw at home against Millwall. That doesn’t look great for us but I think the way Birmingham play opens up this game for a positive BTTS result.

*This is another game with a non 15:00 kick-off time as this leg is a live match on Sky Sports with a 17:15 start-time.

Leg 4 - Peterborough United vs Reading @ 8/11

After 12-straight games in all competitions where Both Teams to Score has been a winner in Reading matches, that run came to a sudden halt at the weekend when the Berkshire club beat Wigan 2-0.

That glorious run may have come to an end but there is no reason to believe that another one won’t start straightaway. The Posh are the top-scorers in EFL League 1 and with the fact you have to go back to October 21 to find a game where Reading didn’t find the back of the net, I’m willing to back the Royals to get right back on the BTTS horse on Boxing Day.

Leg 5 - Barrow vs Stockport County @ 5/6

The biggest price of the fivefold and the only one where BTTS Yes isn’t the outright favourite in that market. This is a top-of-the-table clash in EFL League 2 and the home side are not big scorers, in addition, they have a very mean defence. Put those two things together and you can see why the traders think this might not be a high-scorer.

Yet Stockport County have been scoring goals like they are going out of fashion. 51 times already in this campaign have Dave Challinor’s side found the back of the net. I always fancy them to score and despite the stingy backline they’ll be facing in this one, I’m rolling the dice.
