Saturday Over 2.5 Goals Tips: 12/1 sixfold from Non-League games
With no EFL games on the schedule this Saturday, our Over 2.5 Goals column goes on a tour of the non-leagues with six selections all coming from outside the professional game...
Saturday Over 2.5 Goals Tips:
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Basingstoke Town vs Salisbury @ 1/2
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Chorley vs Spennymoor Town @ 8/11
Back Over 2.5 Goals in FC United of Manchester vs Radcliffe Football Club @ 4/9
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Marske United vs Morpeth Town @ 4/9
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Peterborough Sports vs Bishop’s Stortford @ 5/6
Back Over 2.5 Goals in Swindon Supermarine vs Didcot Town @ 2/5
Overall Odds - 12.87/1
Leg 1 - Basingstoke Town vs Salisbury @ 1/2
We start off our special non-league Over 2.5 Saturday down in the county of my birth as mid-table Basingstoke welcome in high-flying Salisbury to the Winklebury Football Complex.
I’m not over-thinking this selection, as I chose it thanks to one simple statistic. Basingstoke have scored 47 and conceded 59 in their 25 league matches so far this season. That equates to an average of 4.24 Goals-per-Game. With that type of record, they should be a play pretty much most weeks. Throw in the fact Salisbury have hit the Over 2.5 mark in nine of their past 11, and we have our opening leg.
Leg 2 - Chorley vs Spennymoor Town @ 8/11
Going through this acca alphabetically means we go from my county of birth to the one which I currently call home, as promotion-chasing Chorley take on middle-of-the-table Spennymoor in front of their own fans.
The Over 2.5 has hit in four of the past five for Andy Preece’s side as they have found their scoring boots in recent weeks.
These two sides met on Boxing Day in the reverse fixture, and it was the only time this month for either team that the magic mark of three goals wasn’t hit in a 0-2 scoreline. I don’t like that to repeat and think they revert to form and we see plenty of goalmouth action.
Leg 3 - FC United of Manchester vs Radcliffe Football Club @ 4/9
Another derby match here, as those in charge of creating the fixture lists down in the non-leagues do like to keep it local for both players and supporters.
Radcliffe were not that long ago 11 points clear, but they’ve seen that whittle down to just four in recent weeks having lost three of their past five. Even during that run however, the Over 2.5 has hit in every game, so win or lose, goals seem to flow.
FC United of Manchester are also on a run that is worth noting, having hit the required mark in every game since a 0-0 draw on the road at Lancaster City back in early November. Should be goals at Broadhurst Park.
Leg 4 - Marske United vs Morpeth Town @ 4/9
We stick in the Northern Premier League Premier Division for our fourth leg as we have a game between two sides who like going forward but seemingly are not that great at the back.
The home side have conceded 51 times in 21 matches with the visitors having seen the back of their net bulge 43 times in 23 games so far this season.
Unlike the previous game, both sides aren’t on a great run for this bet, but the home side would have hit Over 3.5 in four of their past five with results of 4-5, 3-2, 3-1, 0-1 and 2-3 in that run. It does indicate that they very much are a good bet.
Morpeth are only one of their past four for Over 2.5 but if we go back all the way to October, and we only add one dud, meaning they are 12 of their past 16, which sounds an awful lot better.
Leg 5 - Peterborough Sports vs Bishop’s Stortford @ 5/6
The longest price of this sixfold comes from Lincoln Road where the home side face bottom-of-the-table Bishop’s Stortford in the reverse fixture of their Boxing Day clash.
This is identical to the Chorley game in Leg 3, where that game ended 0-2 meaning that they go home with plenty of expectation that they can score at least one more in front of their own fans. Over 2.5 had been a winner in every league game for Peterborough Sports before that, going back to the 14th of November. I like the home side big here.
Leg 6 - Swindon Supermarine vs Didcot Town @ 2/5
We round out our day in Swindon where the home side have conceded 56 in 22 games whilst the visitors have let in 52 goals in 21 matches. Need I say more?
Two absolutely shocking defences should mean this relegation-scrap is a good one for those looking to either a) go and watch or b) bet on the Over 2.5.
