Baby its cold outside and I am looking for a room with a fireplace.

January is a wonderful time of year to visit Greenville and relax from the hustle and bustle of the December Holidays. You dont have to wait in line to Ice Skate and the restaurants have plenty of reservations open. And if you want to relax and enjoy a good book (or nap!) by the fireplace then Pettigru Place Bed and Breakfast is the place to be.

We have two guestrooms with electric fireplaces, a dining room with an electric fireplace for a romantic breakfast, and a fire pit with Adirondack chairs in the garden if you want some fresh air. We are adding a new electric fireplace to the Brass Giraffe in mid-January so we will have three guestrooms with fireplaces. The electric fireplaces are wonderful with their flickering fire ambiance mode or full fire heat mode when you come in from the outside and need a little more warmth.

January is also a great time to eat at restaurants with a fireplace and there are lots of good ones in Greenville to choose from. We have links to some of our favorite restaurants with a fireplace with our downtown favorites listed first and our worth the Drive finishing the list.

Wine and beer in front of fire in warm bar.

Downtown

Sobys New South Cuisine has always been one of our favorites, with their large stone fireplace they are a happy inclusion to this list. Warm yourselves up while enjoying fried green tomatoes or shrimp and grits as you watch this bustling restaurant cater to both Greenville regulars and out of town guests. The Grand Bohemian features multiple fireplaces. You can savor seared scallops with pomegranate molasses at Between the Trees or head to Sip & Bower for small plates and their rare bourbon collection. Warm fires and beautiful views. Fabulous rooftop views, specialty cocktails, light menu, and and fire tables for you to sit at are all at Up on the Roof

Worth the Drive

For over fifty years The Peddler has hosted special occasions. This unique Greenville original has 4 fireplaces inside of this 100-year-old building surrounded by trees on the north side of town. Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is located on Woodruff Road. This American fare steakhouse prides itself on a scratch-made menu and cooking over a hardwood grill. If youre looking for more than your average steak dinner, try Saskatoon Lodge. Of course, they have steak, chicken, and seafood as well as elk, kangaroo, and Ostrich. They serve a seasonal mix of game at the lodge located on nine beautiful acres. For a mix of contemporary and rustic visit City Range Steakhouse on Haywood Road. You can have a delicious romantic dinner (Hello braised short ribs with pimento cheese mash and asparagus!) inside by the fire or share appetizers and a bottle of wine (half-priced on Tuesdays) on the covered patio with the fireside bar. Haywood mall is home to Grill Marks. This specialty burger restaurant features multiple fries and freak shakes as well as a live fire to enjoy. Whistlestop at the American Caf, in Travelers Rest has plenty of railroad memorabilia as well as a rustic fireplace. Their menu ranges from burgers and pizza to catfish and ribs. And for small bites and cocktails with an in-wall fireplace stop by The Captain at Hotel Harness. Built from reclaimed barn wood, you will certainly feel cozy.

Now that weve set the scene with some fabulous dinner and drink recommendations, lets see what other fun things there are to do this January.
