Ironstone Vineyard has made such efforts for over two decades through the annual Ironstone Vineyard Concours d’Elegance. What is Concours d’Elegance?
Concours d’Elegance is an antique and classic car show that takes place annually at Ironstone Vineyards. 300+ antique and classic cars participate during the show, as well as vintage trailers, antique trucks and motorcycles, housecars, race cars, and wooden boats.
But it’s not limited to those automobiles alone, young people from local 4-H and FFA groups also display projects throughout the site to observe and support. There’s also a petting corral with farm animals to entertain your young ones!
This exciting two-day event begins Friday, September 23 with Cars & Stars. It’s a wine tasting, dinner, and auction all in one. Then Saturday, September 24, the day ends with an awards ceremony. Winners will drive their vehicles onto the stage to receive their trophies.
History of the Ironstone Concours
In 1990 during the construction of the Ironstone Amphitheater within Ironstone Vineyards, the owners of the establishment, John and Gail Kautz, attended the famous Concours d’Elegance in Pebble Beach. The couple left with a burst of inspiration and motivation. They paused their construction project and redesigned the stage of the amphitheater to be able to hold the weight of those heavy classic automobiles.
Just three years later in 1993, they held their very first Ironstone Concours d’Elegance. Now, nearly two decades later, they’ve continued this annual tradition of hosting the Concours every September on the last Saturday.
The mission of the Ironstone Concours Foundation is that by displaying these historic vehicles they’ll help attendees truly appreciate technology, innovation, design, and culture. Also, they want to support the future of agriculture in California through the involvement and sponsorship of the region’s youth.
