Winter greetings to you from Thorp House Inn! As we turn the page on the calendar to 2023 Door County summer dreaming (and vacation planning) really begins.

Our winter so far has been very unusual with many periods of warmer than normal temperatures and very little snow. That’s about to change, however, as we are seeing a bit more snow arriving and along with it–colder temperatures (at least for the short term). This winter has been a far cry from my first winter owning the inn, which was the polar vortex winter of 2019. I had frozen pipes and massive snow removal that winter. But nothing like that so far this winter.

I am so grateful for all of our guests choosing to stay with us in 2021. And to all of our repeat guests–you are the most loyal and best guests an innkeeper could ask for–thank you! Last year marked some major renovations and improvements to the property. These included some new bath and flooring renovations, some new furnishings, and new infrastructure items like roofing, water softener, and plumbing upgrades. This year we will be adding some new and fresh paint to many of the cottages, and we will begin a new landscaping plan.

Soon our remarkable staff will begin our annual spring cleaning program, which I have to say, I think is one of the best cleaning programs among lodging. Our guests repeatedly comment on how clean the inn property is. We will also be welcoming guests for the annual Fish Creek Winterfest from Feb. 3–5, and of course for Valentine’s Day and President’s day as well. We have a nice romantic package running from Feb. 6–20 that includes a custom made Door County rose bouquet, Door County Rose wine and wine glasses, and Door County made chocolate hearts. You can add it to any booking during those dates.

Our advanced bookings for the high season are very brisk, yet we have plenty of availability still. So, if you’re planning a Door County vacation we would be honored to host you for your getaway this summer or fall.

There are some new restaurants in the area and new activities for everyone to enjoy. Maybe you enjoy seeing a play at Peninsula Players or Northern Sky, visiting the many art galleries around, or even taking a class at the Peninsula School of Art. Or maybe you enjoy visiting the many wineries, brew pubs, and distilleries that abound in Door County. Or maybe being on or near the water is your thing–with boat rentals and tours and plenty of sun-filled beaches to choose from. And of course there is the great outdoors of Door County! We have some of the best parks in the state with many hiking trails and beautiful scenic outlooks. Golfing and outdoor recreation is one of the great activities Door County is known for.

So, whatever your passion, Door County has something to offer everyone. As always you can book online at www.thorphouseinn.com or by calling us at 920-869-2444.

Cheers,
Matt
