Hi gang! Sorry I was a little AWOL in March but true to the theme of fresh starts: we're back and we're ready for it all over again. Thank you so much to the mods & helpers for keeping the club ticking along in the last few weeks <3 April's theme is Fresh Starts and the book selected is... Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a café which has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. But this coffee shop offers its customers a unique experience: the chance to travel back in time. Links to purchase: Amazon: Paperback - Hardback - Kindle - Audiobook Bookshop.org: Paperback - Hardback Waterstones: Paperback - Hardback Meetings Our meeting momentum has slowed down a little, so with the spirit of our fresh starts I'm scheduling in a few casual catch-ups so we can all get together, regardless of whether we're up to date on the reading list. Thursday 11th April - Girl, Woman, Other Catch Up A little catch up to discuss March's book, Girl, Woman Other by Bernadine Evaristo. Grab a cup of tea, chat about feminism and present your art (or make it while we chat!) Wednesday 17th April - Craft Together Just a free-flowing craft session. We can discuss previous books, brainstorm ideas for future themes and do crafts together! A great chance to meet other members and get to know each other plus get some ideas and inspiration for your art. Thursday 25th April - Craft Catch-Up Let's catch up and see what our members have been up to. Feel free to present any and all art projects you've been working on - great if they're related to the books, still great if not! Sunday 5th May - Before the Coffee Gets Cold - Book Review & Craft Along April's book is Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. Let's get together to discuss it, present our art or create our crafts together. No meetings are mandatory - I'm trialling the increased frequency to see if it gives more members a chance to join in. You can join in via video chat, voice chat, text chat or even just watching, listening and joining in spirit! It's a chance for anyone, no matter how introverted or anxious, to get involved with something. Other bits I've reopened the Collection Pot for the Arts, Crafts & Book Club! Thank you so much to our donors so far. If you don't know, the Arts, Crafts and Book Club is run totally for free by wonderful volunteers, we collect a very small amount of money from affiliate links but as we grow bigger and better we'd love to find some funds to do more with the club! My biggest goal would be to open our own website soon (so I don't have to keep hosting on my janky old blog) plus when we get some art filtering through - we'd love to create a zine!
