Welp, folx, looks like we plumb forgot to do a Halfway Day contest in July like we’ve done for the last few years. So we’re really going to have to “up our game” for our sixth annual Non-Denominational holiday contest. That means what I hope will be our hardest contest to date and, more importantly, our biggest prize for the randomly-selected winner:
That’s right. The winner will receive a shiny copy of Space Base PLUS the two campaign extensions: The Emergence of Shy Pluto and The Mysteries of Terra Proxima. Publisher AEG has not sponsored us, these are extra copies I bought when I mistakenly thought I’d traded my own copies away (ah, the peril of having too many games to keep proper track of).
Sadly, shipping costs being what they are, this means that only entrants from North America are eligible to win the prize–but of course all are free to enter for the mental challenge and bragging rights.
And now, on to the contest. As usual, it consists of several steps. Firstly, check out the 5 x 5 grid below:
Each numbered box contains a photograph of a component (or several components) from a game. You will need to identify the game and enter its first letter in the corresponding empty grid below on the left:
After you’ve done this, each row should spell out a five-letter word. Coincidentally, each of these words anagrams into the name of a boardgame. Rearrange the order of the games and enter them row by row into the grid on the right such that the shaded letters read from top to bottom spell an appropriate final answer.
A completed solution would consist of the names of the original 25 games from the grid, the names of the five games formed by the anagrams, and the final five-letter answer. Email your solution to dailyworkerplacement@gmail.com by midnight on Sunday, December 24 to be eligible to win. If no entry is completely correct the prize will go to the entrant with the most correct answers. Answers and the winner(s) will be announced on the evening of Boxing Day (appropriately, given the nature of the contest).
Happy solving!
