My Thoughts:

I’ve read some dark thrillers in my time but woah, this takes it’s to another level!

The story starts off with a dramatic scene and then we are taken back a couple of days leading back up to this monumental moment. Well, needless to say I was totally gripped from that point on and if it wasn’t for real life getting in the way, I wouldn’t have put it down.

We get to see a family whose world is going to be turned upside down, a pair of sadistic killers who want everyone to remember their names and DC Saul Anguish, who not only is battling his own demons, has been tasked in following the rampage that the killers are leaving in their wake to try and stop them before they take anymore lives.

There is so much more to this than just being a crime thriller. Various characters are battling with their own issues and over the course of the story we find out what these are. My heart went out to the Hardwicke family who are looking forward to their break in Scotland and some much needed family time. I kept shouting at them in my head to turn back as we get a glimpse of what is in store for them.

This isn’t one for the faint-hearted. The killings are brutal and there are numerous ones at that. Some of the scenes I don’t think I will be able to get out of my head for a while as the author adds her own twists for some jaw dropping reading. She ensures the characters also get into your head making it a lot more emotional than I had expected. So much so that I don’t think I have ever cried as much at a novel in this genre.

All my book friends had been raving about All Of Us Are Broken by Fiona Cummins and now that I have read it, I can completely understand why. It’s simply phenomenal. I don’t think anything prepared me for what was inside the pages of this book. It is very dark and I could feel my heart racing throughout. It totally absorbs you and I loved that you never knew what to expect next. Five stars just aren’t enough for this emotionally charged and fast paced read. Hands down this is my top read of 2023!
