This was honestly such a refreshing read! I read frequently within the self-help / personal development genre. A lot of money and finance related books in this space can be so boring and lackluster but I really enjoyed this book. Boisvert breaks money topics into manageable and easy to focus on sections. Each chapter has a summary and action items at the end, so it is perfect to read a chapter or two a day with your morning coffee.
What made this book so refreshing is that Boisvert weaves personality and humor throughout the narrative. She incorporates personal and relatable stories to go with the topics and also includes some case study style examples of her work with clients, and well as stories of her own money journey and teaching those lessons to her daughter. She also includes some examples of the struggles she’s faced in the industry as a woman and how she’s handled that doubt/backlash.
I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially women, looking to improve their financial literacy and learn money concepts that will help them to achieve their financial dreams. I love Boisvert’s tag: “Make Money Your Thing!” It’s so unique and approachable. Her book will provide lots of insight to do this.

Liberty: What was your favorite topic to write about in Make Money Your Thing?
Kalee: My favorite topic to write about in Make Money Your Thing was the chapter about going on a money date. I have spent a fair bit of my adult life in the dating game. And I could probably write a very humorous book about that one day. I loved being able to use the concept of dating to exemplify spending quality time with your money. Dating can be really bad but it can also be really good, and I think the same can be said about your relationship with money. In the chapter I play on concepts of date ideas to describe what you can do during dedicated time spent working on your finances. My goal was to write a fun and approachable book on the topic of money, and I think dating carries an exciting spin on giving time and attention to your money.
