*Also known as People We Meet On Vacation*

12 YEARS AGO: Poppy and Alex meet. They hate each other, and are pretty confident they’ll never speak again.

11 YEARS AGO: They’re forced to share a ride home from college and by the end of it a friendship is formed. And a pact: every year, one vacation together.

10 YEARS AGO: Alex discovers his fear of flying on the way to Vancouver.
Poppy holds his hand the whole way.

7 YEARS AGO: They get far too drunk and narrowly avoid getting matching tattoos in New Orleans.

2 YEARS AGO: It all goes wrong.

THIS YEAR: Poppy asks Alex to join her on one last trip. A trip that will determine the rest of their lives.

You and Me on Vacation is a New York Times bestselling love story for fans of When Harry Met Sally, One Day and Casey McQuiston. Get ready to travel the world, snort with laughter and – most of all – lose your heart to Poppy and Alex.

My Thoughts:

We get taken to different holiday locations in present day and past with Poppy and Alex who have been friends since college. Poppy has since moved to New York whilst Alex is a home bird and works in the local school. Both are very different in personalities of which there has been some clashes over the years but you can feel the chemistry between them both.

Poppy although I liked her, I felt was quite selfish as even though she was never really attracted to Alex at first as he isn’t the type she would usually go for, is quite jealous when he has had serious relationships. Alex on the other hand is always there for Poppy and goes above and beyond for her. He really is a sweetheart and such a lovely character.

The holiday vibe is wonderful and you will get the travelling bug after reading this book. Their latest holiday though is a bit like one from hell as everything seems to go wrong which puts even more of a strain on the friendship between the characters. Along the way we get to meet some other wonderful characters who add to the entertainment factor.

You and Me on Vacation over all is a lovely read with a will they, won’t they vibe that will have you routing for the pair to get together. It raises the question if friends can also be lovers and the complications that can come with it. If you’re looking for a lighthearted read that is literally the perfect beach read, then you will enjoy this one.
