Dibrugarh is the right offbeat destination in Assam for those looking for spending some quality time with family, or in nature. The post Why you should visit dibrugarh appeared first on Light Travel Action.

On a random weekend, I thought about sorting out the old pictures I had on my hard drive. I was mechanically deleting the random pictures when suddenly stopped at some pictures. The most beautiful shades of green I had ever seen. Oh! These pictures were taken on our trip to Dibrugarh long ago.

I had saved them to use later. Time just went by and it slipped out of my mind. I started going through the pictures one by one with a smile on my face. That’s the beauty of time. The memories seem more beautiful than that time probably was.

Sitting on my balcony while sipping on my hot tea, I look outside. The sky is filled with dark clouds. I close my eyes and feel the cool breeze on my face. The fragrance of wet soil and tea transports me back to the tea estates of Dibrugarh.

The best way to explore the serene beauty of Dibrugarh and the surrounding area is by car. Having your own vehicle or renting one would give you the liberty to plan everything according to your own convenience. You can make a stopover any place you like. Most of the roads are well maintained and it’s a reasonably comfortable journey by road.

Local food and rice beer

A trip to any part of India is not complete if you don’t try the local food. Assamese thali and rice beer are something that you must try.

The journey from Dibrugarh to Dhemaji is an astonishing one. You get to enjoy the sprawling views and open pastures. Bogibeel bridge has been a boon in connecting various areas in Assam. This has further helped in industrial and economical development and tourism.

Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi are the languages spoken in Dibrugarh.

Mancotta Heritage Chang Bungalow

What other amazing place to stay than Mancotta Heritage Chang Bungalow in Dibrugarh? One of the highlights of this trip for us was our stay at Mancotta Chang Bungalow. A tea garden surrounds this bungalow on all sides. It is a marvelous example of British architecture.

Earlier, this bungalow was used as the residence of the tea estate manager. In 2001, it was converted into a heritage property to welcome guests who wanted to experience staying here

You can wake up to the view of lush green tea gardens and warm sunshine. The rooms are huge, airy, and very well decorated. You also get to enjoy freshly cooked delicious local food. If you are looking for a peaceful stay or spending quality time with your significant other, this is the right place to stay.

We spent most of our time here doing nothing. If you too are a fan of that indulgence, you must choose this place to stay.

When it’s raining and all you see around is lush greenery, find a cozy, comfortable corner in the bungalow, and order some tea, you won’t feel anything less than royalty. They say time is a luxury; splurge and create some memories for you to look back on later.
