The Greyhound Australia is one of the easiest and most cost effective ways of travelling Australia and it’s a firm favourite with backpackers, budget travellers and anyone looking to tick off some of the best Aussie travel destinations.

Greyhound East Coast Australia Pass
For travellers focusing on the East Coast route between Melbourne and Cairns (or the other way around!) the Greyhound WHIMit East Coast Passes are going to be a great option.
Much like the WHIMit National Passes the East Coast Pass includes unlimited travel in any direction – so if you want to backtrack to a previous stop, jump on an internal flight and then carry on using your pass it’s all good. In fate there are only 2 main restrictions:
You can only use it on the route between Melbourne and Cairns (so it wont cover any inland travel, Red Centre or the NT. The time frameIn terms of travel time, currently the East Coast Passes are available in 7, 15 and 30 days options – so for most people heading to Australia it’s the perfect amount to tick off an epic East Coast adventure!
As with all the Greyhound Australia options, the East Coast Pass is managed via an online portal where you can check bus times, book your next trip or rearrange your travel if your plans change.

Greyhound WHIMit Bus Passes – Unlimited Travel
If you prefer to travel with even more flexibility the Greyhound WHIMit National Bus Passes (launched in 2018) is the most extensive and flexible bus pass in Australia. Based on time rather than distance or route you simply select how long you want it to be valid for (anything from 15 days to 3 months) and then enjoy unlimited travel on the entire Greyhound network for that length of time!
This means you can bounce around as much as you want, backtrack and it even covers trips all the way to the Red Centre!
Managed online you simply book whichever buses suit you, to wherever you want to go – and of course you have the option to prebook a whole section of your journey and change it up later if you plans change!
Ideal for spontaneous travellers still looking to save money on their Australia trip!

As you can see it hits up heaps of places all along the coast including all the major spots like Byron Bay, Noosa, Rainbow Beach (for Fraser Island), Airlie Beach (for The Whitsundays), Townsville (for Magnetic Island) and Mission Beach – so you wont be missing out.
Flexible And Budget Friendly
Basically the Greyhound Australia Bus Passes offer a great balance of flexibility but without breaking the budget.
At $389 (approx £216) for the 30 day East Coast Pass it’s well worth the money to cover over 2,700km from Melbourne to Cairns and it’s more than enough for most backpackers heading to Australia.
Sure the Premier Bus Passes are a bit cheaper at $320AUD (approx £200) for Sydney to Cairns, but they offer less daily departures and lack some of the comforts of Greyhound – like on board wifi, central drop off points (especially in Agnes Water/1770) and charging ports!
It doesn’t sound like much but on a 13 hour overnight trip it does make everything a little easier!
