MOUSE SOUP Mouse Soup by Arnold Lobel is a great read aloud novel study to do in First Grade and Second Grade. The short chapters and illustrations help beginning readers read the story themselves. When the weasel returns to his kitchen to assemble the mouse soup, he realizes the mouse has escaped back to the safety of his own home.
