That’s right. At the Costa Rica Dental Team we work hard to grant our patients a new smile in just one week. We have done so for more than 15 years, working alongside top-level dental technicians at our onsite dental lab. We know time is money, which is why we strive to offer efficient and effective treatments at our dental office in Costa Rica. Here is an overview of what a typical week looks for our patients:
Day one: If you decide to stay within our area, we will have our driver pick you up a few minutes before your appointment. Once you are at our office, we will start with the full exam. This includes a full set of diagnostic x-rays, models, diagramming, and oftentimes a CT Scan. Based on our findings, we will then prepare some treatment plan options, which will then be explained and discussed with you. This treatment plan will include all the foreseeable fees and visits to our office. Remember that although we try to be extra careful with our planning, this treatment plan can change once we start the procedures. When the treatment plan is defined, we will start right away. For full-mouth reconstructions with crowns or veneers, we try to prep the teeth on this day, but if this is too much for you, we can continue on day two. After we finish prepping, we will also insert temporary crowns while the final ones are processed.
Day two is dedicated to root canals, if needed, the prepping of any remaining teeth, and inserting temporary crowns/veneers.
Day three is surgery day. Our oral surgeon comes in and takes care of any extractions, dental implant placements, bone grafts, or crown lengthening. We try to minimize your time on the dental chair as much as possible if you are scheduled for any surgery. These procedures are generally quick and painless, but you will need to rest for the remainder of the day.
Day four is trial day. As soon as the crowns or veneers are completed, we will try them in. Your dentist will check for the correct fit, check contacts, bite, symmetry, color and shape. Your dentist will also ask for your input. If you approve, then she will begin the cementation process. However, if there are adjustments to be made, she will send the crowns back to the lab. Oftentimes, the adjustments are minor and can be completed within the same day, but sometimes final cementation will be delayed until the next day. Nonetheless, you will now have a very good idea of how your teeth will look like in the end.
Day five is final cementation day. As soon as the adjustments are completed, the dentist will try the crowns/veneers in one more time. As soon as you approve, she will proceed to cement them permanently. The process of cementing the crowns is detailed but relatively painless. The dentist will then take final x-rays to verify the correct placement of the crowns and then take pictures for your before and after.
