I was recently invited by ONlit to present on the chapters that I co-wrote for the book, Harnessing the Science of Learning, a compilation book led by Nathaniel Swain and featuring Pamela Snow and others.

In this recording, we cover important ground around cognitive load theory and explicit instruction. My hope is that schools that listen to this will start kickstarting their school improvement, a process that some in Canada have already begun.

Much of the content of this presentation is covered with visuals and examples in my own book, Just Tell Them: The Power of Explanations and Explicit Teaching. You can get it on Amazon or Kindle, but the link I’ve provided to Indie Pubs has been, in my experience, the fastest way to get your hands on a hard copy.

With speaking gigs like this and interviews on Pondiscio’s The Next 30 Years, it is a really good time to book me for 2025. I am looking to partner with schools that are tired of talking about this stuff and are looking to make real changes in teaching and instructional coaching.
