The book launch is in five days! … More It’s time to pre-order your copy of The Sexual Evolution! (And some other exciting news)
Hello friends! Launch day is almost here!
My new book, The Sexual Evolution, is officially released in just five days, so if you were thinking of buying a copy of the hard cover, now is the time to pre-order!
Believe it or not, pre-orders are a big way that you can help in promoting the book. A large number of pre-orders is a mark of a highly anticipated book, so various booksellers will prioritize and advertise, and it will boost the book in search returns, and this becomes a positive feedback cycle. (But yes, at $32, I perfectly understand if you’re waiting for the paperback.)
And you can also help in book promotion by posting about it on social media (and please tag me – you can find all my socials here.) or just by telling all your friends!
I also have some exciting news to share. Firstly, NEWSWEEK is covering the book in their latest issue, which hits newsstands tomorrow, I believe. But the articles are already available online.
First, there is a modified excerpt from the book. This is from the chapter on monogamy, and it was slightly edited for the Newsweek audience so it could stand alone. The theme of this article is that monogamy is not a requirement for harmony and equality in sexual relationships (although it’s a great place to start), but one variable really DOES correlate well with peace and harmony in primate families: the empowerment of females! I hope you enjoy this article (and the book that it was taken from, lol) and if you do, please share this article with your friends!
The excerpt is then followed by an extended Q/A with me. This is about the book more generally and I think it previews some of of the other topics that the book covers.
I also published an article in the magazine Free Inquiry. This magazine is read mostly by scientists, academic scholars, and secular humanists, so the articles are longer, more high-brow, and can be quite technical, but I think this article is the most comprehensive summary about my book, at almost 5,000 words. Some of you may get a kick out of the title because, yes, I am deliberately trolling right-wing reactionaries.
But, at the same time, I absolutely mean what I say. So-called “gender ideology” does poison biology, but not the in way that the people who use this phrase believe. If you want to know how I think ideology has harmed biological research, you’ll have to read the article! 
It’s available as an audio version also, which is a nice touch I think.
And the last announcement that I have is that I am now lining up public event, readings, lectures, and so forth. I have three events in NYC in the month of February, and I am lining up events on the West Coast for April (Seattle, Portland, Oakland, and San Francisco so far). I will also be giving a book talk on my home campus on April 23rd, and at the New York Public Library in June.
