This July, family comes first with the next MCU blockbuster of the year…just in time for Summer.
We have lift-off! The Fantastic Four First Steps trailer has been released to much fanfare and speculation from the fandom. As Marvel’s First Family indeed takes its first steps, it’s a very exciting road to travel as we await the epic blockbuster that will arrive this July.
The Fantastic Four have been a staple in Marvel Comics history ranging from their origin in the comics to widespread acclaim. After being defined and redefined by the likes of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, John Byrne, and many other creatives in the comics, they’ve since been featured in a slew of other media like animations, games, and even 3 different live-action franchises.

But this version of the Fantastic Four is finally home. This is the 1st ever attempt at bringing these larger-than-life heroes to the big screen within the MCU. Let’s break it down.
The Fantastic Four Return Home
The trailer begins with Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) showcasing the Baxter Building wherein Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal) says they make it a point to do family dinner at 7 PM on a Sunday no matter what, coz family comes first.

Off the bat what sticks out the most and for all the right reasons is the 60s aesthetic. The FF were after all created in the 60s and it’s great to see an MCU film leaning into that aesthetic. It gives flavor, it gives personality to the project. We next see who could very well become another fan favorite (maybe the same way Grogu has been) H.E.R.B.I.E. alongside the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) in what one can only assume is a reference to his role on The Bear as he does a cheeky taste test on something the adorkable robot has prepared.
We’re then treated to what looks like will be their origin story likely covered in flashbacks as the 4 heroes gear up in their space suits (filmed very much in a way that reflects something akin to the space race) as a voice-over from Reed in a conversation with his wife about their fateful journey into space has occurred and what life was like before all that.
Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) flames on and his devil-may-care attitude is touched on. Sue’s force field and invisibility powers are on display but the main thing by far is the fact that this adaptation is indeed leaning into a more comic-authentic feel and nothing speaks to that far more than the Galactus tease in this trailer.
He was last featured in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer wherein he was basically a life force consuming, planet-eating cloud. Suffice it to say fans were not happy about that.
The trailer concludes with a shot of the 4 leads as Sue assures that they’re a family no matter what, hitting home the themes of the film and staying true to the heart of the comics.
Vanessa Kirby looked stunning at the Live Trailer Reveal Event
Joseph Quinn may be the one playing Johnny Storm, but it’s Vanessa Kirby who’s smoking hot. The British bombshell’s stunning presence was the talk of the town at the trailer unveiling event for the film worldwide. The blonde-haired actor wore a stunning black dress with vertical blue stripes baring her shoulders and accentuating her sexy physique as she spoke about the heart of the characters and bringing these timeless heroes to life in a way that felt true to the comic source material despite decades of different tales, interpretations, and adaptations being around.
Sue Storm and the rest of the Fantastic Four have been seeing a bit more of a surge in popularity and gossip of late due to Reed and Sue being available as an unstoppable duo in Marvel Rivals, a new 6v6 hero shooter. With The Human Torch and The Thing set to follow, they’ve been getting a lot of eyes on them ahead of the big film’s release which is a good thing, synergy-wise.
Sue Storm’s design in the game in particular has sparked critical acclaim as fans cannot get over the sensuality she brings to the title. Sue is strong, sexy, and a powerhouse on the team.
In other words, she’s a baddie.
That makes Vanessa Kirby the perfect candidate to embody this role so far as she is one of the most striking women working in Hollywood today. At the press event, Kirby brought the heat in her dress accentuating her sexy figure and striking features, she looks to carry on that trend started all the way back with Jessica Alba embodying the role, then continued on with Sue’s Marvel Rivals depiction.
