After winning Best Picture at the Oscars last year, can Oppenheimer finally cross the $1 billion mark at the box office with a theatrical re-release?
In honor of its Best Picture win at the Oscars last year, director Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer was re-released in select IMAX locations across North America this week. The period biographical thriller, starring Cillian Murphy as the theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, was also re-released in three venues equipped to present it in IMAX 70 mm, Nolan's preferred format. Oppenheimer emerged as a record-breaking box office hit when it was released in July 2023, ultimately concluding its run several months later with nearly $1 billion in global box office revenue.
