It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before we venture back into The Further…
Following the enormous success of 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door, a sequel was officially announced in May 2024.
Set to release on August 29th 2025, little was known about the project, and it remained that way until December 2024.
Then, we received the news that the project had been dropped from the release roster. This was hardly surprising, given that we’d had absolutely no updates on the film.
However, now Insidious 6 is moving forward once more, all the way to 2026.
Now set to release on August 21 2026, we still have no details on what we can expect. However, on the bright side, it gives the filmmakers more time to get things right.
Similarly, we’ve had no news of the franchise’s first spin-off feature; Thread: An Insidious Tale. Announced at the end of 2023, the project is purportedly set to star Mandy Moore, and highlight another family’s journey with astral projection.
However, no updates have been issued since this initial announcement, with the project remaining without a release date.
Given that Insidious: The Red Door was supposed to end the series, it’s entirely possible that its unexpected success spurred the studios to take on too much at once. If that’s the case, a delay in releasing a sixth entry can only produce a better movie.
We’ll keep our ear to the ground for any further Insidious updates, and bring them to you as soon as we can.
