If you’re like me, you’ve probably tried multiple teeth whitening products, hoping to get that bright, white smile without the dreaded sensitivity. There’s nothing worse than the shooting pain in your teeth from using white stripes. So, after testing four different brands, I finally landed on Lumineux Teeth Whitening Strips as the very best brand – and I get compliments on my smile all the time. I’m relieved and thankful I finally found a brand of white strips that work and don’t make my teeth scream in pain whenever I sip something cold. (BTW–did you know that 48% of American adults say that smiles are the most memorable thing about a person (according to Kelton Global for the AACD)? So, if you need another reason to buy these white stripes, there you go!)

Do Lumineux Teeth Whitening Strips Really Work?

I’ve used Crest 3D Whitestrips before, and while they absolutely whiten, they made my teeth so sensitive that even breathing in cold air was uncomfortable. I also tried a coconut oil-based brand from Amazon, which was gentle on my enamel but didn’t do much in the whitening department. So, when I came across Lumineux, a product that claimed to whiten without causing sensitivity, I was intrigued but skeptical.

After using them consistently, I can confidently say they work. My teeth look visibly whiter without any uncomfortable side effects. I think the reason they’re so different is that Lumineux uses naturally derived ingredients like dead sea salt, coconut oil, and essential peel oils (like lemon peel oil) instead of peroxide. Plus, I always pair my whitening routine with hydroxyapatite toothpaste, which helps remineralize my teeth and keep my enamel strong. Read my thoughts on hydroxyapatite toothpaste in this post.

Is Lumineux Better Than Crest Whitestrips?

I guess this depends on what you’re looking for. Crest 3D Whitestrips are the fastest, and they do give pretty dramatic whitening results– but they also make my teeth SO sensitive. If you’re someone who struggles with enamel sensitivity (like me), Lumineux is the better choice because it’s peroxide-free but still effective. You’ll probably need to use them more often in the beginning than you would with Crest whitening strips, but now I only need to whiten my teeth every few months or so.

Lumineux’s approach to whitening is more about long-term oral health, while Crest is more about getting fast results, even if it means dealing with discomfort. The trade-off wasn’t worth it for me—I’d rather have gradual whitening than deal with aching teeth.

How to Use Lumineux Teeth Whitening Strips

Using Lumineux is super simple, and if you’ve used traditional whitening strips before, the process is about the same:

  1. Brush First (But Without Toothpaste) – Lumineux says to brush your teeth before applying the strips, but I skip toothpaste and just use water.
  2. Dry Your Teeth – I use a clean washcloth to dry off my teeth so the strips will stick well.
  3. Apply the Bottom Strip First – This helps with placement and keeps the strips from shifting.
  4. Apply the Top Strip – Press down gently to ensure good contact with your teeth.
  5. Wait 30 Minutes – The strips stay put well, and I usually go about my routine while wearing them.
  6. Remove & Rinse – After 30 minutes, peel them off and rinse your mouth.
  7. Brush with a Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste – This step helps remineralize and protect enamel after whitening.

Before and After Lumineux Whitestrips

Unfortunately, I don’t have before photos since I first started whitening my teeth about 10 years ago. When I started, I probably used them 2 times a week for about two weeks, and now I don’t use them as often. I “touch up” my whitening about every 6 months.

Final Thoughts: Should You Try Lumineux?

If you’ve put off whitening your teeth because of the sensitivity, Lumineux is worth trying. The results take a little bit longer than Crest 3D Whitestrips, but they are gentle, effective, and don’t leave your teeth feeling vulnerable. Plus, the fact that it includes dentist-approved, purposeful ingredients like coconut oil and lemon peel oil makes me feel good about using it long-term.
