Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has reportedly been on Real Madrid’s radar for quite a while and some fans and reporters alike consider him the best candidate to succeed Carlo Ancelotti whenever the Italian coach leaves Real Madrid. However, Alonso hasn’t received any interest from the club so far, according to his agent Iñaki Ibañez. “We never talked to Real Madrid last season and the same can be said this year,” said Ibañez when asked about the matter. Ibañez delivered those quotes for an article published today in MARCA. Alonso will make a final decision about his future in March, per that same piece, so it will be very interesting to see if Real Madrid finally show any kind of interest in hiring their former player, who is arguably one of the most coveted coaches in European football. Alonso’s Leverkusen has struggled so far this season but they are still fourth in the Bundesliga.
