Photo by Eakin Howard/Getty Images It’s a little amazing how much NC State’s postseason position has improved over the last few weeks, but the Wolfpack couldn’t have picked a better time to surge. State has gone from likely two-seed, to potential regional host, to near-lock regional host, with an opportunity to climb some more. The latest bracket projection from D1Baseball has State as the No. 11 overall seed, well clear of the hosting bubble. Baseball America has State as the No. 9 overall seed in its latest. There is agreement that the Wolfpack can’t do anything to cost itself a regional this week, and that the team can work its way into the top eight with a strong showing in Charlotte. Getting into that top eight would be significant, as that would lock in hosting honors for the Super Regional round as well. So that’s where we’re at as the ACC tournament gets rolling—we can rest easy knowing there’s not really much to lose, and that Elliott Avent getting the monkey off his back would be a little extra sweet.
