It is always a lot of fun painting these little gem studies.
With them it's all about expressive brushwork and simplification. Less is more. Details are kept to a minimum allowing the underlying abstract design to carry the painting. It's about a big statement in a succinct package.
And it's about the pure joy in simply the qualities of the paint. The varied brush strokes and textures are like eye candy.
