Terrorism in New Orleans Chris Grollnek

Terrorism in New Orleans: Our hearts and prayers are with all the fallen victims’ families, those currently fighting for their lives, and all who will suffer from this event in ways most can’t imagine. The information that will come out from this Terrorism in New Orleans event will be overwhelming in discerning between what is real and an “adjusted” message. I am writing this in support of humanity versus evil. We can do much better at prevention, and following Germany, we should have… FULL STOP…

The FBI has been telling us that there are sleeper cells everywhere in the country. The flag flying during the attack demonstrates the evil-doer’s motives and ideologies. The technical aspect of the three IEDs and coordination of the vehicular assault followed by mobilization to an active shooter is unacceptable and suggests a broader warning of terrorism.

The country has become tone-deaf to warnings of terrorism because of the “5-minute” news cycle, which washes our threat landscape’s reality. We can do both: live free of fear and threats by mitigating them and setting our focus on Prevention. We will always need a response arm, a well-funded group of humans augmented by technology, to respond when the prevention cycle fails. But to keep that mechanism funded and watch the repeated failures of the past 25 years and know we could have prevented the majority of mass casualty attacks, well, that’s irresponsible.

This is not a call to buy anything, a pitch to sell anything, nor an “I told you so,” this is a reality check. We need to unite as one for the people with the aforementioned ideas and solutions to gain the advantage of working on a real Prevention and Response strategy.

None of this helps the people involved today, nor will it help their recovery. But we can honor all of them, from today and all past events, by doing better to ensure we break this cycle of “it happened again”! The onset of events to follow may be nill or overwhelming, but we need to start the active shooter and domestic terrorism prevention standard and stop this now.

This is a call to unity in the industry that is haphazardly assembled to “do our best” because we can do better.
