The Sundance Diaries Part III: Tania Gunadi

Read the final installment of our series with 2024 Cassian Elwes Independent Screenwriting Fellow Tania Gunadi below! Day 5 Monday Jan 21 GOODBYE SUNDANCE, HELLO NEW BEGINNING On our last day at Sundance, we had one more meeting with an investor. Of course, we chose Don Gallo again, as it proved a perfect spot for meetings and coffees. It was another highly informative meeting with an investor who had a slightly different take and point of view on the industry and the types of projects he wanted to make, and so I watched and listened as Cassian navigated the conversation and tossed out ideas. The meeting was productive and short. From there we went to see the movie IN THE SUMMERS. Tom was one of the Executive Producers of the film and it was fascinating to hear how he came to be a part of the project. The movie was very moving. I sobbed at the end, and I congratulated the actors who were in it. Then we headed to the airport. I hung out with Cassian for another hour or so before boarding the plane and told him that my trip had been the most eye opening and fascinating time. And that I was so very appreciative of both the Black List (Franklin Leonard) and Cassian for creating this fellowship that provided me with such a unique opportunity to experience and to learn how movies get made, from a producer’s vantage point. To me, my time at Sundance was much more than a fellowship. It was an experience that will surely change my life, in a truly wonderful way. My special thanks to Megan Halpern, Kate Hagen, and Claire Austin-Kulat from the Black List for all their help in organizing all this so wonderfully! Thanks to you for sharing your Sundace story with us, Tania! Stay tuned for more info about the 2025 Cassian Elwes Independent Screenwriting Fellowship!
