With a new head coach and general manager in place, the New York Jets can now get down to the business of fixing a roster that went 5-12 this season.

Aaron Glenn will be leading the team from the sideline, while Darren Mougey is their new GM, and he recently made his first mark on the franchise.

“Let the record show that Jets GM Darren Mougey has made his first transaction: Signed FB/TE Andrew Beck to a reserve/future contract. Mougey knows him from Denver (2019-2022). Also played with Houston and Green Bay,” Rich Cimini of ESPN wrote on X.

Beck came into the NFL in the 2019 season after going undrafted out of the University of Texas, and he played four seasons with the Broncos, primarily on special teams.

For the 2023 season, he joined the Houston Texans as a free agent, and new head coach DeMeco Ryans converted Beck into a fullback.

Obviously, no big moves, if any, will likely be made by the Jets for a few weeks, and their first and most important item of business is figuring out who will start at quarterback in 2025.

Aaron Rodgers isn’t sure if he wants to continue playing, and the Jets don’t seem sure they even want him back.

If the 41-year-old does leave, their options to replace him don’t seem that attractive.

He was traded to New York almost two years ago, and his tenure has yielded virtually nothing positive.

The team hasn’t made the playoffs since the 2010 season, which gives them the longest current drought in the NFL.
