The greatest rivalry in world cricket is about to ignite as Pakistan will take on India in the highly anticipated fifth match of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. The high-voltage match will be held tomorrow, February 23, 2025, at 2:30 PM IST, at the iconic Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

While India possess two CT titles (2002, 2013), Pakistan will attempt to repeat their surprising 2017 success, their only triumph in the tournament’s history.

The home side will face a hurdle when playing away from home since the conditions would be different than what they are used to. Babar Azam has demonstrated some form, but he will want to increase his strike rate. Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan, and Saud Shakeel will play important roles in the batting order, particularly with Fakhar Zaman sidelined due to injury. The bowling lineup, spearheaded by Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah, remains strong. Pakistan’s all-rounders, especially Faheem Ashraf, Salman Agha, and Khushdil Shah, might be essential in tight situations. If their batting fires, Pakistan has a good chance of defeating their formidable opponents.

India won a comprehensive victory in their first encounter, propelling them to second position in Group A points table. Shubman Gill seized the spotlight with a sparkling 101-run performance, while Mohammad Shami‘s stunning 5-wicket haul was equally vital for India. This emphatic victory highlights India’s capacity to execute under pressure. India doesn’t need to make many changes to their lineup. With a solid opening duo, fans will be hoping for a strong start from skipper Rohit Sharma, followed by Gill anchoring the innings. Virat Kohli will look to play long innings, while Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul will be aiming to come in later and finish the job. India’s strength lies in their all-round department, which includes Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel. The bowling attack, featuring Shami, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav, gives India an edge in the UAE conditions.

Head-to-Head:

Given their historic rivalry, India and Pakistan have only met five times in Champions Trophy history. In head-to-head matches in CT, Pakistan lead India by a small 3-2 margin.

Furthermore, Pakistan have won 73 of the 135 ODIs, while India have won 57. However, India has dominated in recent years, having won 12 of the previous 17 ODIs against Pakistan since 2010.
