Nest Aware now part of Google One plans in U.K., but not in U.S.

As predicted, Google has begun rolling out Nest Aware functionality to its Google One subscription bundle, but stateside users won’t get the same benefit–at least not yet. A Google spokesperson has confirmed to TechHive that Google One Premium users in the U.K. now have access to Nest Aware, a paid subscription plan that includes such benefits as cloud-based video storage for Nest security cameras, at no additional cost. U.K.-based Google One Premium subscribers are also getting Fitbit Premium benefits, which include personalized health data and guided video workouts.  This news story is part of TechHive’s in-depth coverage of the best security cameras. But the Google rep stopped short of saying when—or even if—Nest Aware and Fitbit Premium perks will be coming to U.S. Google One subscribers.  Here’s the full statement from Google spokesperson Michael Marconi:  Google One Premium plans already offer amazing value, with 2TB of cloud storage, family sharing, premium features in Meet and Calendar, and more benefits that help members get the most out of Google. Fitbit Premium & Nest Aware are currently available with Google One Premium plans in the UK. We don’t have anything else to announce.  News that U.K. Google One subscribers had received Nest Aware access was first reported by 9to5Google, which had earlier spotted code in the Google Home app hinting that Nest Aware might come to Google One.  Google One Premium includes 2TB of storage, “premium” Google Workspace features, advanced Google Photos editing features, and other benefits for $9.99 a month, or £9.99/month for U.K. users. There’s also an AI Premium plan that adds access to Google’s Gemini Advanced generative AI chatbot for $19.99 a month, while a $1.99/month Basic plan lowers the storage to 100GB while losing the AI and Google Workspace features. Until now, Nest Aware plans have been completely separate from Google One.   The standard Nest Aware plan ($8 a month in the U.S., £8/month in the U.K.) offers 30 days of video history for all your Nest cams, plus alerts for suspicious sounds such as smoke and/or carbon monoxide alarms, as well as the sound of breaking glass. You’ll also get notifications when your Nest camera spots a previously tagged “familiar face,” along with emergency e911 calling directly from the Google Home app.    Nest Aware Plus ($15/£15 month) boosts the video storage to 60 days while also adding 10 days of 24/7 video history.  In the U.K., it’s the standard Nest Aware plan (along with Fitbit Premium, which costs $9.99/£7.99 a month) that’s included with the Google One Premium plan, while Nest Aware Plus will require an extra £5.99 a month, Google confirmed. While the addition of Nest Aware and Fitbit Premium benefits to Google One is restricted to just the U.K. for now, it seems like only a matter of time before more territories—including the U.S.–can join in. We’ll keep you posted.  Security Cameras, Thermostats
