At the beginning of the module, I was excited about the lecture series as I knew I would have a lot of freedom in choosing what I would blog about. I decided that, as the tone of a blog is more colloquial,   I would write my blogs on topics I felt interested in and use them as a chance to explore topics I had not done in the past. This worked out in my favour as my first blog on child-friendly design influenced my design work in other modules. In my opinion, this shows the benefits of blogs. These short passages, which provide a brief overview of a topic that interests the writer, open up so many pathways for further development and reading.

Using WordPress to submit work was a good experience as it introduced us to a real-life example of how we would be sharing work with the public and not just our cohort. Word Press took a while to acclimate, but after the first icebreaker and blog, it soon became simple enough.

One challenge for me when using WordPress was how to integrate photos into blogs. This was expected when using a new platform to present work, and I soon overcame this. To solve the issue, I had to log into another device and edit the posts afterwards, but once I worked this out, it was easy enough to do.

Another challenge I faced was to move from writing like an essay to using my writing to engage an audience; after my undergraduate degree, this was something that I had to actively think about while writing.

The bi-weekly sessions we had on the blog were beneficial as they gave us a chance to ask questions and work alongside our peers and tutors to solve issues together. I struggled with time management in this module, but the bi-weekly sessions helped keep me on top of my work. These check-ins were very supportive and created an environment where we not only got advice from our tutors but could read and assess each other’s work. I found these discussions to be especially helpful when trying to refine the tone or structure of my posts.

This module taught me a lot, and I believe that it helped me improve my communication, time management, and literary evaluation skills.

In Conclusion, this module was a fun way to explore a range of topics and expand knowledge. The most rewarding part of this module was learning how blogs could connect my academic interests with real-life applications.  I feel that, throughout these blogs, I have improved my ability to communicate my ideas, and this is something that will continue to improve my work in other projects and written assignments.
