Rusty’s Recall Revolution: How Training and Nutrition Transformed a Young Dog’s Focus

When Matt and Kelly first reached out to us, they were looking for structure, calmness, and reliability in their young dog, Rusty — a bright and energetic pup full of potential, but lacking stamina, consistency, and reliable recall. From the very first session in the Freedom Field with Craig and Karen, it was clear that Rusty had a strong desire to win, and we built on that instinct using a targeted play-based method called “Play to Win.”

Over the course of structured sessions, including in-field coaching and bespoke video tutorials, Matt and Kelly worked hard to reinforce Rusty’s recall, drive, and self-control. Craig demonstrated step-by-step exercises with long lines, paracord toys, and whistle cues — all designed to channel Rusty’s natural instincts into controlled behaviour.

As part of the process, Rusty was transitioned onto Peptide Plus™ Skin & Coat Care from The Dog Man’s Choice. Within weeks, his energy improved, his coat darkened and developed a noticeable sheen, and — crucially — his willingness to take food rewards outside the home increased dramatically. That alone marked a real turning point in his engagement and trainability.

Today, Rusty is far more responsive to whistle cues, has built real stamina during his recall sessions, and is thriving both mentally and physically. He’s no longer just chasing for fun — he’s chasing to win, to connect, and to engage with his handlers. His latest training videos show confident returns from long distances, controlled play, and a dog who now truly understands the rules of the game.

Matt and Kelly have done a fantastic job. Their consistency, calm leadership, and trust in the training process have made all the difference.

We’re proud to be part of Rusty’s journey — and even prouder to offer Peptide Plus™ as the nutritional support behind his transformation.
