Celebrating Art and Craftsmanship with Valdo Aquarius

The Wining Hour: Valdo, located in the Veneto region of Italy, is synonymous with quality Prosecco and is recognized both in Italy and internationally. Valdo is based in the heart of the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita) region, which is the highest quality classification for Italian wines. The region’s unique soil and climate conditions are ideal for producing Glera grapes, the principal grape in Prosecco. Valdo Spumanti offers a wide variety of Prosecco styles, from extra dry to brut, catering to different taste preferences. Their portfolio includes traditional Prosecco, rosé Prosecco, and special vintage editions, as well as limited reserve and still wines. Valdo places a strong emphasis on sustainability in its vineyard management and winemaking practices. Moreover, they have a strong spirit of innovation, using eco-friendly techniques and continuing to invest in modern winemaking technologies to enhance both quality and environmental responsibility.  Valdo has a long history that dates back to 1926, which indicates that they will soon be celebrating 100 years of production!  Valdo Aquarius Blanc de Blancs is part of their newest collection that celebrates tradition and modernity in Italian sparkling wine. Blanc de Blancs are made exclusively from white grapes, and in this case, Glera and Garganega via the Charmat or tank method. This means of production allows for a secondary fermentation in stainless steel tanks, which helps preserve the fresh and fruity characteristics of the wine. Aquarius is a pale straw-yellow color with a slight golden hue. Aromas of citrus fruit, pear and white flowers dominate, while the palate is crisp and refreshing with flavors of citrus, green apple, and a slight touch of minerality. In the mouth, it is smooth and elegant. Medium-balanced with elegant perlage. 11% Abv. Valdo Aquarius Blanc de Blancs would be perfect for an aperitivo or as a celebratory sparkling wine. Its bright acidity makes it suitable for a variety of dishes with a creamy or buttery element, cutting through the richness. We had the pleasure of participating in a Paint and Sip to celebrate the launch of Valdo Aquarius Blanc de Blancs.  Matteo Bolla, Valdo’s US Business Development Manager, provided a more in-depth look into the story behind this bottle and Valdo’s latest initiatives.  Matteo emphasized that Valdo’s goal is “to introduce top-quality and elevate prosecco.” Not only did we get to enjoy an early sip of Aquarius, we were able to channel our inner artist by painting under the guidance of the creative mind behind the Aquarius label design, Ceci Johnson. Internationally celebrated American artist, Ceci Johnson, is known for her work in the field of contemporary art. Her style often blends various mediums and techniques (including painting, sculpture and mixed media), creating visually compelling and thought-provoking pieces. Johnson’s work is recognized for its innovative approach and emotional depth. This paint and sip experience allowed us to explore using watercolors to paint our expression of nature and the Aquarius label, which is inspired by the mythical underworld, involving beautiful mermaids, coral and colorful fish. Here’s a peak at this lovely experience: We were able to walk away with our very own ‘masterpiece!’ This afternoon of art and bubbles was absolutely delightful, engaging, fun and informative. The team at Colangelo PR outdid themselves with the organization of this extraordinary wine and art experience. Valdo’s commitment to tradition, coupled with its innovative approach, has helped it remain one of the top brands in the Prosecco market.  This sparkling wine, in particular, showcases Valdo’s ability to produce wines that are both high quality and versatile, suitable for a wide range of palates. Along with Ceci Johnson’s design masterpiece, Valdo has truly crafted a work of art, both inside and outside this beautiful bottle.  Check out my other article on Valdo Marco Oro Prosecco featured in Appetito Magazine.
