French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal was on Tuesday poised to resign but lead a caretaker government with restricted powers until after the Paris Olympics amid parliamentary deadlock in France. The leftist alliance New Popular Front has still not managed to name a consensus candidate for prime minister after snap legislative elections earlier this month.
