A man was arrested in Canada and accused of plotting an attack on the U.S. to coincide with the anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas atrocities on Israelis, the New York Times reported Friday. Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, a Pakistani citizen, was planning to kill “as many Jewish civilians as possible” in New York City, authorities said. He was trying to cross the border in to the U.S. and aimed to carry out a mass shooting at a Brooklyn Jewish center in the name of the Islamic State, prosecutors said, according to the Times. He wrote to a friend,“New york is perfect to target jews. We could rack up easily a lot of jews,” the legal filing against him read. He was arrested on Wednesday and is charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization, namely ISIS.
