Vision captured a man run onto the field and swing a punch at another onlooker in the Mt Druitt Vikings-Penrith Brothers clash at Erskine Park. Chaos then erupts as parents wrestle, throw punches and tear each other’s shirts. The brawl was reportedly sparked by a referee call. One of the team’s supporters, perhaps a little too invested in junior sport, was enraged – and combat kicked off from there. Witness Chad Nepia told Seven: “It’s disgusting, we are here for the kids. “We were on the other side of the field and we saw cops turn up about half an hour later.” Local cops said there was a quarrel between two blokes, with one of them leaving the ground – but when he returned all hell broke loose. The police statement said: “On arrival, officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command were told two male spectators had become involved in an argument, with one of the males leaving the grounds. “A short time later, the male reportedly returned with a number of other associates and a brawl occurred; however, the group left the area before police arrived.” It’s the second junior rugby brawl in only two weeks in Sydney. On August 24, a melee broke out between players and parents at an under-13s match in Bankstown, southwest Sydney. A scuffle between players on the field escalated when angry spectators decided to jump the fence and join the fight. Vision of that brawl, also obtained by Seven News, showed the wild scenes with a man falling to the ground when he was struck. He was reportedly stomped on the head as a stampede ran past him. According to local cops, a 36-year-old and 39-year-old were the key culprits. But by the time police arrived the scrap had stopped and the crowd had dispersed.
