The kids have to share or they're left with the smallest room. Of course, this leaves you with little space that you have to try and use in a sensible way. When you have to squeeze two or more children into one bedroom or you're trying to furnish a box room, how do you make the most of the space you have? Luckily, there are so many methods you can use to make use of space in a clever way. Get Lots of Storage You might think you don't want storage taking up too much space in a small room. But when it comes to children's bedrooms, storage can be a lifesaver. It will help prevent the room from becoming too messy–as long as you can get them to actually tidy up. Choose storage that can store lots of different items, from cuddly toys and LEGO to books. Hopefully, the right storage will help keep things off the floor. You can use drawers, baskets, bins, hanging storage, and so many other options for neat storage that works for kids of all ages. Make Use of Height One of the best ways to get as much space as possible when you don't have a lot of floor space is to go up. Making use of the available height will allow you to put more in the room, especially if you're setting it up for more than one child. Take a look at the bunk beds at Cuckooland to get some ideas on how they can be used. They can help you get two or more children into one room. Or you can use a loft bed with space underneath to maximise even the smallest of rooms. It's ideal when you have awkward spaces that might otherwise not fit a standard piece of furniture. Instead of trying to squeeze something in, custom-built pieces can be made to slot into place. It might be pricier than some other options, but it is often the best way to put a little nook or alcove to good use. But if you choose this, think about how the bedroom is going to grow with your child. You don't want them to grow out of it too soon. Keep It to Scale Children don't need adult-sized furniture and accessories. While it can be cheaper to pick up, especially if you're buying second-hand, it's not necessarily the most practical option. So consider getting child-sized furniture instead. Keeping everything to scale will help you save space and it's better for smaller people too. They'll be able to reach everything they need and they'll feel comfortable using all of their furniture. You might be working with a small room, but you can still have big plans for it. Using some clever tricks, it's possible to make the most of the space you have.
