Gerelt has severe cerebral palsy and lives in rural Mongolia with his mom, where services for special needs are sparse.

His whole body is affected by severe muscle tightness, making daily activities — especially eating — very difficult. Until recently, he struggled to get enough nutrition because he was often fed while lying down, which was unsafe. Gerelt could only eat pureed food and had little appetite…

That’s where you stepped in. Your gift provided Child Nutrition Program training for Gerelt’s caregivers at his kindergarten.

His caregivers learned how to properly position him during meals so he can safely receive the nourishment he needs. He now attends kindergarten every day, where he also receives physical therapy.

Today, Gerelt eats upright in a supportive chair and interacts with teachers during mealtime. His appetite has greatly improved, and he’s learning and growing with more energy — all thanks to donors like you!
