New Jersey Academy Hopes to Reach More Kids With Help from Lancaster Archery Foundation

The Lancaster Archery Foundation is helping a New Jersey martial arts academy that includes archery training reach more inner-city kids with a grant awarded through the Growing Youth Archery Together program. The Iron Dragon Kenpo Academy Golden Eagle Archery Initiative received $5,000 from the foundation to help pay for bows, arrows, targets and other range equipment. “The Iron Dragon Kenpo Academy Golden Eagle Archery Initiative is passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of inner-city youth through our children’s archery program,” the academy’s grant application states. “We believe that with your support, we can continue to provide a safe, empowering and educational environment that empowers children to become confident, accomplished individuals.” Iron Dragon plans to buy several Genesis bows, arrows, bag targets and other range gear to increase the amount of equipment they can offer to program participants. That, in turn, will allow the program to accommodate more kids. “At the Lancaster Archery Foundation, we know of and believe in the power of archery to empower kids, to give them confidence, and to help them become successful adults,” said Rob Kaufhold, president of the foundation’s board of directors. Based in Lancaster, Pa., the Lancaster Archery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expand, develop and promote 3D and target archery to help people improve their confidence, discipline and leadership skills through participation in competitive archery.
