Hello Monday

Hello Monday

or, there's only 11 Mondays to 2025Hello October. Next to the colourful leaves of June in Melbourne, October is my favourite season in Queensland. (Because, let's face it, in our climate, the month is a whole season all of it's own) The jacaranda in my backyard tells the world it's here, the October Lily gets out her finest dress, and the cold of winter (such as it is for us acclimatised northerners) is slowly creeping away.Hello music. On lazy rainy weekends of pottering, I've usually got headphones in my ears, watching a streaming show, but this past weekend I decided to dive deep into my music library and pull out some old faithful tunes and bop in the kitchen while washing dishes. It was a weird feeling, almost like waking up from a sleep and realising you've missed something that you didn't know was gone until that moment. I'm relishing diving into the catalogues of Adele, Cher, Smokie, Foo Fighters and anything that takes my fancy.Hello Christmas reading. While I always countdown from 100 days of Christmas, I do try not to get too obnoxious to my family while we're all still at school. Reading is something I can do without them realising it's a Christmas book (Natalie is always asking if I'm watching Christmas movies when she sees the aforementioned headphones) Today's book is Home for Christmas by Heidi Swain.Hello last week of school. We're on the countdown for Natalie to finish her secondary school career. This week is the final week of revision before exams start next Monday. She's been sick for the last week (we're waiting for test results, but it looks like she's on the mend) and is feeling a little stressed, but moves forward with the knowledge that she's already secured a place in her chosen university degree. Hello December Daily®.My box of supplies arrived last week, but I'm still in the depths of making last year's album. December is such a crazy season for us that I consciously chosen to live the season and then create when the buzz of the new year starts, but I've been a bit sidetracked this year. The goal is to have it done by December.Hello Monday. There's just 11 Mondays left in 2024. I think my 50th year is one I'll be glad to have been through in the future, but right now there's so many pieces of it that make me sad, and reflective, as well as joyous and thoughtful. For now, I eat the elephant one bite at a time.Hello Monday, a new start to every week.
