Only half way through the term and it’s already been a massive, worldwide journey. This term the focus is on Geography, in particular the continents of Asia and America. However, the tricky part is that we’re trying to learn these at the same time; the Year 5s are looking at America, while the Year 6s are studying Asia. We’ve done all sorts of activities, even using the CIA World Factbook site (which has now sadly been archived) to investigate some facts about the different countries within the continents, and from this the students will do comparisons to Australia. One “fun” task was to try and draw a particular part of their continent by hand. I recall doing this when I was a kid, the only difference being that I enjoyed it!
