Hasan Piker Makes the Perfect Case of the Birthright Tourism Scam, GOP Rep Says

Self-described Marxist influencer Hasan Piker—who has advocated violence against capitalists while flying first class and reportedly charging up to $100,000 for speaking appearances—has drawn sharp criticism from Republican officials who accuse him of working against the United States.

“I think we’re ultimately going to find that there’s a massive problem in this country with so-called social media influencers that are really just agents of foreign countries,” Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., said.

Fine accused Piker of previously saying that “America deserved 9/11,” “overall, my favorite flag is Hezbollah,” and “kill the mother******s, let the streets soak in their red, capitalist blood.”

“These people are dangerous threat to the country,” Fine continued. Piker, he said, also exemplifies what he described as the “scam of birthright tourism.”

“We have allowed foreign agents to bring people to the United States, have a kid, take them home, make them hate America, and then release them into our country, which is why we’ve got to stop this, and we have to, you know, end the plague of paperwork Americans in this country.”

Piker was born in New Jersey to Turkish parents who moved to the United States in the 1990s. He later moved back to Turkey, where he grew up, before returning to the United States at age 18 to attend Rutgers University.

Last week, Piker announced that he is under investigation by the Treasury Department over a recent trip to Cuba’s communist regime, which he said was organized by the nonprofit organization CODEPINK.

Neville Roy Singham, a U.S. citizen living in China, has been accused of funding left-leaning nonprofit organizations in the United States, including CODEPINK, The People’s Forum, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation—groups Piker has worked with and traveled to Cuba alongside.

The House Ways and Means Committee has been probing those organizations and their nonprofit status since the start of President Donald Trump’s administration.

Fine accused Piker of being “so dumb” that he “admitted” to being funded by nonprofits that may be tied to the Chinese Communist Party.

“I think clearly we’re going to see it with his son Piker, who’s basically admitted it,” Fine said. “You know, he my understanding is he, he’s so dumb. He went on his little show and talked about how he’s funded by China.”

On his show, Piker said that “I think that ultimately the target is probably Singham and his operation from PSL to ANSWER Coalition to CodePink—like anything that he has ever financed.”

“Not sure how much money he has now, but he’s been a funding vehicle for a lot of political movements in the country, like a lot of activism, and they hate that s—, so they’re trying to jam them up,” he added.

As first reported by the Washington Reporter, Piker has also called for the assassination of Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., during a livestream on social media.

Scott praised the federal investigation into the left-wing influencer as “good” and has repeatedly urged consequences for institutions that host or promote him.

“Democrats are campaigning with this guy. The Democrat Party supports this stuff,” Scott said after Piker spoke at an event at Yale University. “Yale, if they want to go support somebody that wants to see a capitalist murdered in this country, right, so I don’t want them to get any federal funding. I mean, it’s pretty simple to me. They shouldn’t be doing this.”

Scott, who is scheduled to host a tele-town hall with Fine on June 4, added that “these universities can do whatever they want,” but should not expect federal funding if “they want to support people that want to murder me and murder capitalists and are antisemitic and say that Americans deserve 9/11.”

Piker has also campaigned alongside Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who justified antisemitic terror from an Islamic radical in March, said he does not want to condemn the death of a now-deceased Iranian Supreme Leader because it would upset voters, and acknowledged difficulty answering whether Israel should be a Jewish state during an appearance at Michigan State University.

Piker did not respond to the Daily Signal’s request for comment.
