Langley Advance Times BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) continued its tanking operations overnight as they continue to battle the Guichon Creek wildfire in Logan Lake.
On Friday morning (July 31), BCWS provided an update, stating the blaze is now 152 hectares in size. It remains out-of-control.
On Thursday, BCWS stated it assisted the Logan Lake Fire Department with ground and aerial support.
“Skimmers and airtankers actioned this fire to support firefighting personnel and heavy equipment,” said BCWS.
Using its helicopters equipped with night vision imaging systems, when visibility allowed, BCWS continued to provide tanking operations Thursday night and into Friday morning.
On Thursday, the fire displayed Rank 2 and 3 behaviour, “meaning a surface fire with some open flame, occasional candling, and a slow to moderate rate of spread.”
The evacuation alert that was issued for seven properties on Tunkwa Lake Road on Wednesday, July 29 remains in effect.
BCWS stated the fire is suspectedly human-caused.
