Holladay Properties and city leaders turned the shovel on construction of the Aldridge Building, 6101 Cleveland Ave., to provide additional modern industrial space options.

“It is exciting to see dirt get turned as potential becomes possibilities and possibilities become reality,” said EDCMC Executive Director Clarence L. Hulse.

Directly west of the Haskell Building, the speculative 54,000-square-foot flex industrial building is designed to accommodate one to four tenant spaces with potential for 6,750 square-foot suites.

“We are constructing the Aldridge Building to attract new companies to locate in Michigan City and to also allow existing companies to expand and remain in Michigan City for the long term,” said Holladay Properties VP of Leasing & Development Michael O’Connor. “Community investments provide the spark to attract quality investment and businesses to Michigan City.”

The adjacent Haskell Building is fully leased with two tech-driven tenants that are employing 120 skilled workers, O’Connor added.

Starin Marketing is a tech-based marketing consulting company and Marbach America is a Germany-based die-cut manufacturer that serves clients worldwide.

“Having industry here is also impacting the housing that is happening here in Michigan City,” said Michigan City Mayor Angie Nelson Deuitch. “We want people to not just work here but also live here.”
