Sara & Alec: A Summer Indiana Wedding with a Power Outage!

Sara & Alec's wedding day in Columbus, Indiana included a beautiful church ceremony, lots of dancing, and a power outage! Nothing slowed these two down! The post Sara & Alec: A Summer Indiana Wedding with a Power Outage! appeared first on Franzetti Photography.

Sara & Alec had a very memorable wedding day, to say the least! They traveled to Sara’s childhood church in Columbus, Indiana to have their wedding. St. Peter’s has a large, open sanctuary with extremely high ceilings, a few windows to the left and right of the altar, and a few more windows at the top of the sanctuary. As their ceremony began, glimpses of the weather turning could be seen through the windows and the wind pounded the rain against the glass sideways. The beautiful organ music filled the room and it was very easy to ignore the changing weather.

Sara entered with her dad and met Alec at the front to officially move forward as a married couple. And right as they began exchanging vows, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT! And stayed out. They completed their ceremony by candlelight and while that is a tad stressful for the photo and video team, it was a truly beautiful, intimate way to have a wedding ceremony!

We soon found out it was much more than the church that lost power in the storm. The majority of the town was filled with lifeless traffic lights and dark interiors. As we arrived at Factory 12 Event Loft for the reception, we quickly learned that they too had lost power. As the DJ scrambled to make plans and the venue staff were hard at work lighting candles and searching for a generator, Sara & Alec were happily married and ready to party!

And party they did!! One of my very favorite moments of the night was a great dance Sara did with her dad!

We enjoyed a great dinner, cut the cake, and right when it mattered most, the venue got a backup generator up and running so the DJ could make some magic for dances and fun. Even though the AC was out for most of the reception, Sara and Alec never missed a beat. I am not totally sure how Sara managed that in a WEDDING DRESS!! But, she kept on going right up to the very end when we ended with a shower of golden confetti and they wrapped up the photography story with a kiss on the dance floor.
