The selection of teas on the menu was not just thorough, but also delightful. Each setting had a personal menu, showcasing the lovely afternoon tea offerings, including homemade pastries and sweet and savory finger foods. The Ham Salad Sandwich on a Croissant and the dessert options were particularly delightful. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that the curated menu offerings were all made in-house. Our host's thoughtful and seasonal crafting of the tea menu made us feel truly special, and the beautifully preserved historic home inspired many conversations, making our Afternoon Tea memorable.

Historic Hospitality

Rocky Hill Inn, established in 1857, was known as "The Mansion" of Rock Hill. It has a rich history, with former owners including Woodford Harding Ford and his wife, who purchased the Inn for a little over $2,000. Ford's addition of the Victorian wrap-around porch and the home's subsequent renaming as the "Ford Hotel" in 1916, are just a few of the many historical milestones of this Inn.

At the foot of the Inn, the town of Rocky Hill built a train station in 1859. Trains between Louisville, Kentucky, and Nashville, Tennessee, had one stop— at Rocky Hill. The home was popular from the outset. Guests would lodge at the "Station Inn" for 25 cents a night. Soldiers, visitors, and explorers frequently visited Kentucky's Caveland. In 1850, Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote about traveling to Kentucky to see the area's "Great Hole in the Ground," known today as Mammoth Cave National Park or the world's longest cave system.

The seasonal decor, from pumpkins and wreaths to the fall tea menu offerings, were all beautiful.
