I’m ignoring the slight chill in the air and celebrating summer.  I’m also trying out a couple of the new healthy and nonalcoholic drinks.  Good Housekeeping did a survey and here are their top two favorites.

The Olipop Shirley Temple contains real tart cherry juice and only 40 calories and 5g of sugar. It also has a high-fiber mix of prebiotics.  Reviewers loved it and said that while it revived nostalgic memories, it was fortunately not as overly sweet as they remembered.  $29.88 for a 12 pack.

Wildwonder Blackberry Violet sparkling probiotic drink blends prebiotics and probiotics into a refreshing drink.  It is brewed with real herbs.  Reviewers liked the flavors and the fizz. $41.99 for a 12 pack.

Here’s a chore no one likes to do, but it’s important.  Cleaning your washing machine annually prevents mold from building up due to excess moisture. To take care of both mold and excess moisture, run a cycle with a cleaning tablet like Affresh or Active but without any laundry.  Wipe the drum, gaskets, and dispensers with a rag dampened with diluted white vinegar. (If the gaskets are a puzzle to locate, check your instruction manual or look online).

We’ve written about the Pope’s silk socks before, but they are lovely enough to repeat ourselves..  Gammerelli, a sixth generation-run shop, is a very popular establishment behind the Pantheon in Rome and best known for being the official tailor for the Pope.  The shop makes some of the finest quality all-silk Italian socks for men, in four colors. $30.00 a pair.
