Startup Nola Blog September 23, 2026 — Nuclear power startup Applied Atomics, whose co-founders include a pair of former SpaceX engineers, announced Wednesday it is establishing its headquarters and training center in New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood.
The one-year-old company, which plans to build and operate small modular reactor power plants, will spend more than $8 million transforming an existing 18,500-square-foot industrial facility at 3333 Chartres St. into office space, a light fabrication shop and training center.
